Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace

Course overview

The course is intended for nurses who may assist in the prevention and identification of impairment in the workplace. This course will provide the participants with the information of the impact of impairment on the provision of nursing care and on the patient health as well as the skills to identify and report situations of workplace impairment. Participants will be able identify risk factors for substance abuse, signs of impairment in the nursing workplace, state the process and legal obligations involved in reporting an instance of impairment, and describe treatment programs available for those who have been impaired in the workplace.
