Course overview
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) remain significant global and national public health concerns. Healthcare professionals play a critical role in the prevention, early detection, treatment, and long-term management of HIV infection. Advances in antiretroviral therapy have transformed HIV from a fatal disease into a chronic, manageable condition when diagnosed and treated early. This course provides healthcare professionals with foundational knowledge of HIV transmission, pathophysiology, risk factors, screening methods, diagnostic testing, pharmacologic treatment, prevention strategies, and patient counseling. Emphasis is placed on early detection, evidence-based treatment protocols, reducing stigma, and improving patient outcomes through comprehensive care.
