Course overview

Course Description: This course provides an essential overview of client rights within substance abuse and behavioral health treatment settings. Participants will learn about the Consumer Bill of Rights and how it applies to clinical practice, including specific rights that clients hold related to treatment participation, confidentiality, communication, and personal dignity. The course also reviews ethical obligations of counselors and the legal exceptions to client confidentiality. Upon completion, professionals will be equipped to better protect and advocate for their clients' rights in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
