Clinicians are faced with a variety of ethical decisions on a daily basis. From outside pressure to provide potentially unnecessary treatments to discharging patients due to third party payer pressures, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants must navigate complex moral dilemmas to provide quality care in an ethically compliant manner. This seminar delves into ethical considerations inherent to the 21st century healthcare environment with a specific look into the home health environment. Through a review of the APTA code of ethics for both the PT and PTA as well as real life case studies, clinicians will explore the science and art of ethical decision making with the goal of leading physical therapists and assistants to hold themselves and their co-workers to the highest level of ethical standards.
