Residential care facilities vary widely in purpose from long term care facilities for the aged, to psychiatric centers, to rehab facilities, to the prison system. All of these types of patient care arenas have specific needs based on population and most common therapeutic needs upon which the focus most of their effort. With this in mind often the treatment of infectious diseases is complicated by these environments and lack of specialization by the primary care providers in those arenas. Pharmacists can provide guidance in these situations to help fill the knowledge gap and help provide the care of patients in these settings. This course Infectious Disease Prevention & Care in Residential and Institutional Facilities will update the pharmacist in the prevention and management of infectious diseases and issues that are important to the care of patients in such long-term settings.
