Course overview

This live, interactive three-hour training is designed for supervisors, team leads and managers who oversee 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline workers, crisis counselors and crisis response teams. Participants will explore the core principles, essential competencies, ethical considerations and practical strategies for effective crisis line supervision, as well as crisis-specific supervision frameworks. The session provides the building blocks for implementing trauma-informed supervision practices. These practices will help create psychological safety for crisis workers, equipping new and upcoming crisis line supervisors with tools to develop supervisory skills, guide professional growth, and navigate challenges and ethical dilemmas unique to crisis line work. After completing this training, participants will be able to: 1. Apply crisis-specific supervision frameworks that address the unique demands of 988 crisis line work, including high-stakes decision-making, suicide risk assessment and rapid response protocols. 2. Implement trauma-informed supervision practices that create psychological safety for crisis workers exposed to repeated traumatic content and life-or-death situations. 3.
