This 5 hour General Education course introduces Florida Licensed Massage Therapists to the foundational principles and practices of traditional Reiki, with a focus on Shoden Level I concepts. The course explores Reiki historical origins, philosophical framework, and its relevance to therapeutic presence, practitioner awareness, and client relaxation within the scope of massage therapy practice. Participants will examine the role of intention, mindfulness, and self-awareness in supporting the relaxation response and enhancing the client experience. The course includes guided exploration of traditional Reiki concepts such as the Five Reiki Precepts, the Three Diamonds framework, meditation practices, and foundational techniques, presented in a professional and scope-appropriate context. This course is designed to support massage therapists in developing greater presence, focus, and clarity in their work while maintaining ethical and professional boundaries. This course does not include attunement or practitioner certification. Attunement is offered separately through in-person instruction. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the historical origins and foundational structure of traditional Reiki, Shoden Level 1. 2. Explain the role of practitioner awareness, intention, and presence in supporting client relaxation. 3. Identify key Reiki concepts including the Five Reiki Precepts and the Three Diamonds. 4. Recognize basic meditation and grounding techniques that support therapeutic focus and professional presence. 5. Discuss how awareness-based and light-touch practices may complement massage therapy within the scope of practice.
