Plasma transfusions are a common medical intervention and the blood component most likely to be inappropriately transfused. There is a lack of high quality evidence to recommend when plasma transfusion might be medically beneficial for patients. In this presentation, we will review the evidence for and against plasma transfusion, as well as the beliefs that drive providers to order and transfusion plasma.
