Course overview

This course provides healthcare professionals with essential knowledge about bloodborne pathogens and infection control practices in healthcare, assisted living, and home-care environments. Participants will learn how infections are transmitted, how the chain of infection can be interrupted, and how to apply standard precautions and transmission-based precautions to reduce risk. The course also covers proper use of personal protective equipment, safe handling of contaminated materials and sharps, environmental infection control practices, and procedures for preventing and responding to occupational exposure.
