With a growing interest in self-sufficiency, the number of people keeping small flocks of backyard poultry is rising. With this rise in flock numbers is a growing expectancy for veterinary care at a level equivalent to what clients have come to expect for other companion animals. The first step for veterinarians to meet these expectations is to acquire the knowledge of the basics, without which it is difficult to understand the hows and whys of disease. By completing this course, veterinarians, technicians and students will have a thorough grasp of poultry, their care and nutrition, and the basics of providing veterinary care.
