Course overview

Most of us in clinical practice have realized by now that the backyard chicken is increasingly becoming a part of both our clients' lives and ours, as clinicians. But when you look back at your university training, you also realize that learning about commercial poultry and disease management doesn't prepare you for the reality of companion chicken practice, where the value of the patient cannot be measured in just dollars. This course will give you more in-depth knowledge on the medicine and surgery of backyard poultry than you have had to date, giving you the confidence to walk into your examination room, comfortable in your knowledge and abilities to offer the standard of care you believe in.
