Discuss the new pain management guidelines for children and adults from the American Dental Association. Discuss the mechanism of action of NSAIDs and compare the differences between traditional NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors. Discuss the importance dosing on analgesic versus anti-inflammatory effects of NSAIDs. Discuss the controversy surrounding NSAIDs and induction of gastropathy and nephropathy. Describe the role of analgesic adjunctive agents for patients with dental pain. Dosage and efficacy will be discussed. Discuss the role of tramadol, suzetrigine and buprenorphine for dental pain.
