Course overview

The 2 Day Phlebotomy Workshop is designed for Certified Nursing Assistants CNA who work in hospital, clinic, or laboratory settings and may be required to assist with blood collection procedures as part of their job responsibilities. This in person training provides 16 in service hours and focuses on foundational knowledge and hands on skill development related to phlebotomy procedures. The course includes instruction on infection control patient identification safety procedures proper specimen handling and basic venipuncture techniques. Participants will also learn about equipment selection site preparation and strategies to reduce complications during blood collection. Hands on practice is provided in a supervised training environment to reinforce safe technique and proper workflow. Emphasis is placed on professionalism patient safety and communication during specimen collection procedures. This course is intended to enhance the knowledge and skills of CNAs who may support phlebotomy related tasks in their workplace. Responsibilities related to blood collection are determined by the employing facility and must comply with state regulations and employer policies. Upon successful completion participants will receive a certificate of completion.

This course provides training in phlebotomy related skills and does not independently authorize participants to perform venipuncture or blood collection procedures outside of their scope of practice as defined by state law and employer policy.

Hands on training is provided for educational purposes. Additional competency validation may be required by the employer prior to performing phlebotomy related tasks in the workplace.

This course provides 16 in service hours for Certified Nursing Assistants CNA. A certificate of completion will be issued to all participants who successfully complete the course requirements.
