Course overview

This continuing education course will focus on common experiences that survivors of abusive intimate relationships may face along their healing journey. This includes common challenges as well as opportunities for growth. Participants will learn about the factors that may impact survivors' healing experiences, including the potential for ongoing contact with their abusers, such as if children are involved. In this presentation, Christine Murray will delve the Pathways for Supporting Survivors Model, which the presenter developed through the online resource, The Source for Survivors. This Model offers 6 Commitments that can be applied to both survivors and the community supporters around them. The presenter will share suggested guidelines and approaches that mental health professionals can use to support survivors in a trauma-informed manner.
