Course overview

Per the CDC's 2022 report, suicide deaths increased by four percent in the year 2021; in their 2020 report, rates of suicidal ideation and self-directed violence (SDV) have increased substantially as well. While Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder, the basic principles of DBT are focused on the safety of clients and the management of intense emotions that lead to self-directed violence and death by suicide. In this presentation, Dr. Charles Jacob will help you gain a profound understanding of DBT and its application in managing suicidal ideation and SDV. You'll leave with practical strategies, assessment techniques, and safety planning to provide effective support to individuals in crisis. Master emotion regulation and distress tolerance skills to empower clients in navigating intense emotions and preventing self-harm.
