Course overview

This learning activity equips nurses with essential communication competencies for effective telehealth practice. Learners will develop "webside manner" techniques including camera positioning, vocal modulation, and rapport-building strategies that translate bedside skills to digital environments. The activity covers virtual patient education using teach-back methods, integration of AI-generated data and remote monitoring into patient conversations, and strategies to address health equity barriers including digital literacy gaps, language access, and connectivity challenges. Nurses will learn to navigate ethical and legal considerations such as informed consent, HIPAA compliance, multistate licensure under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, and mandatory reporting obligations in virtual care settings.
