Course overview

As shoulder arthroplasty continues to rise worldwide, rehabilitation professionals must be prepared to deliver care that is both evidence-based and individualized. In particular, Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty (rTSA) has surpassed anatomic total shoulder replacement in frequency and now accounts for approximately 60-70% of all shoulder replacements in the United States, with an estimated 60,000-80,000+ procedures performed annually. Growth rates over the past decade have exceeded 10-15% per year with rTSA representing the majority of shoulder replacements in adults over age 65. This course is designed for physical and occupational therapists seeking to move beyond memorized protocols and develop a deeper understanding of the why behind post-operative precautions and progression. Participants will learn the critical anatomical and biomechanical implications that directly impact rehabilitation decision-making. By the end of this course, attendees will be equipped to confidently individualize treatment plans, progress patients safely, and optimize functional outcomes following rTSA.
