Course overview

Parkinson's disease is one of the fastest-growing neurological conditions worldwide, and growing evidence shows that appropriately dosed exercise can drive neuroplasticity, support motor function, and may slow disease progression. However, many individuals continue to receive low-intensity, generalized home exercise programs that do not challenge the nervous system or address freezing, dual-tasking, and real-world movement demands. This gap limits functional outcomes, reduces adherence, and increases fall risk, loss of independence, an long-term healthcare burden. As clinicians, we are no longer only managing symptoms, we are helping shape long-term neurological health and quality of life. This course will provide a structured, evidence-based framework for progressing individuals with Parkinson's disease beyond traditional models of care. Participants will learn practical strategies to integrate intensity, power, dual-tasking, cognitive challenge, and functional training to promote neuroplasticity and improve real-world mobility and confidence. Through case-based learning and clinical application, attendees will leave with tools they can implement immediately to enhance functional outcomes, patient engagement, and long-term participation across outpatient, home, and community settings.
