This lecture will discuss how to choose a pet food. There are over 5,000 brands and 200 manufactures of pet food. This lecture will discuss where to find reliable sources of information, how to read a pet food label and how to compare current foods on the market. Information will be discussed to show what standards are recommended for pet food companies to follow. Where to find this information easily will also be discussed. Pet food labels will also be discussed. Information will be provided on what is required to be on a label and how to decipher what that information means. A variety of ingredients will also be discussed as well as the specific nutrients each of those ingredients provides. A case study will be presented to tie all the information provided together.
