This one-credit-hour continuing education course provides licensed funeral directors and embalmers with a comprehensive examination of ethical principles, professional conduct standards, and regulatory compliance requirements that govern contemporary funeral service practice. The curriculum centers on the Federal Trade Commission's Funeral Rule (16 CFR Part 453) and its ethical underpinnings, equipping participants with practical frameworks for navigating real-world ethical dilemmas encountered in daily practice. Topics include pricing transparency and the prohibition of hidden charges, informed consent for embalming and preparation services, conflicts of interest in casket sales and third-party referrals, ethical obligations in preneed arrangements and trust fund management, cultural sensitivity across diverse communities, and the responsible use of social media.
