Upon completion of this course the learner will gain Knowledge of the 5 types of hepatitis viruses called A, B, C, D and E. Identity signs and symptons for patients with acute and chronic hepatitis. Knowledge of the epidemeliogy of the hepatitis A, B, C, D and E viruses. Discuss the modes of transmission of the hepatitis A, B, C,D and E viruses. Discuss appropriate treatment for the prevention of hepatitis infection. Identify risk groups for the hepatitis A, B, C, D and E viruses. Discuss treatment necessary for the patient with acute chronic hepatitis infection. Knowledge of long-term effects without vaccination. List the FDA approved drugs for the prevention and/or treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis.
