Course overview

Blue light potentially has both benefits and inherent hazards to the eye. The optical industry is at the forefront of providing preventative optical technology. After working with the course, the ECP will better understand what type of education and preventative solutions to offer a patient. The radiant spectrum, including visible light, is discussed. Ocular anatomy that responds to radiant light, especially UV and blue light is studied. The attenuation of blue light and many of the preventative products or techniques available are covered. The important role of the ECP in providing ocular protection is discussed.
