Course overview

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the cytopathology of cystic and solid pancreatic lesions. It begins with an overview of an algorithmic approach, emphasizing the integration of radiologic features, cytomorphologic findings, and ancillary tests in this context. This session also includes a review of the evolving reporting systems, transitioning from the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology (PSC) to the World Health Organization (WHO). The course then shifts into an interactive case-based discussion on cystic pancreatic lesions. Participants will explore fascinating cases, including serous cystadenoma (benign category), neoplastic mucinous cyst with low-grade atypia (PaN-Low category), neoplastic mucinous cyst with high-grade atypia (PaN-High category), and solid pseudopapillary neoplasm with cystic degeneration (positive for malignancy category). This will be followed by an engaging showcase of solid pancreatic lesions through four case studies: pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, acinar cell carcinoma, neuroendocrine tumor, and metastatic malignancy (all positive for malignancy categories). The session concludes with a dedicated Q&A segment, providing participants the opportunity to clarify doubts and engage with the faculty. Finally, participants can test their knowledge in an exciting summative quiz, with a chance to win prizes.
