Participants will be able to gain knowledge about managing the incongruencies between ethical rules and regulations, client expectations, and common practices. Objectives: Participants will be able to state the statistical likelihood of their being investigated for an ethics violation. Participants will be able to describe common cultural beliefs which impact their interactions with clients. Participants will be able to describe their own biases regarding themselves, clients, and client services. Participants will be able to describe how to protect the clients and themselves by carefully forming and maintaining therapeutic relationships. Participants will be able to describe the differences between content and process, common conceptions of language, and the legal definitions of words. Participants will be able to relay the specifics of how licensing board regulations address common ethical issues.
