Course overview

The psoas and surrounding structures of the anterior torso play a critical role in posture movement, breathing, and the bodies stress response because of the muscle connection to the spine and nervous system. Deep tissue work in this area can be both highly therapeutic and deeply sensitive for many clients This class teaches massage therapists how to safely and effectively treat the psoas and anterior torso using deep tissue techniques while applying trauma informed principles. Students will demonstrate proficiency in applying trauma informed language during treatment and will understand the connection of trauma and the body's protective responses while treating the torso and psoas.
