Course overview

This class provides an overview of pediatric shock, a time-sensitive and potentially life-threatening condition that requires rapid recognition and intervention. The session will begin by defining shock and reviewing the physiologic principles of impaired tissue perfusion and oxygen delivery in pediatric patients. Participants will learn to understand the different types of shock, including hypovolemic, distributive, cardiogenic, and obstructive shock, with emphasis on the unique features of shock presentation in children.
