Course overview

This 2-hour continuing education course introduces pharmacy technicians to the foundational concepts of clinical pharmacology and their practical application in pharmacy practice. The course focuses on how medications work in the body, how patient-specific factors influence medication therapy, and how pharmacy technicians support safe medication use within their defined scope of practice. Emphasis is placed on technician responsibilities such as accurate medication order processing, identifying potential medication-related concerns for pharmacist review, supporting medication reconciliation, recognizing high-alert medications, assisting with adherence efforts, documenting appropriately, and communicating professionally with patients and healthcare team members.
