Course overview
Infections acquired during healthcare delivery remain a significant cause of patient morbidity, mortality, and increased healthcare costs. National surveillance data indicate that healthcare- associated infections (HAIs) affect hundreds of thousands of patients each year, and many are preventable through proper infection control practices. This course reviews evidence-based infection prevention strategies, standard precautions, and transmission-based precautions to reduce the spread of infectious organisms.
