Course overview

Purpose: This course introduces students to updated, modern versions of steam cabinets that are affordable, easy to transport, and achieves the neck-down steam exposure that is the main function of a traditional steam cabinet. Water is heated by an external steam generator and pumped into the interior via silicone tubing. Using a safety steam "disperser" disc, users can safely enjoy steam exposure sessions with minimal risk of burning. Students will learn a brief history of sauna culture, operation of a portable steam cabinet, how to pair it with massage and bodywork services, and safety of cabinet usage. 1. How to safely set up, operate, clean, disinfect and break down a portable steam tent. 2. Understand the history of steam tents and cabinets in spa/massage settings. 3.
