Course overview
Pain management is a critical component of safe, effective, and patient-centered healthcare. Inadequate pain assessment and treatment are associated with increased morbidity, delayed recovery, and reduced quality of life. National data demonstrate that pain remains one of the most common reasons individuals seek healthcare services and that unmanaged pain contributes to adverse outcomes and patient dissatisfaction. This course reviews pain physiology, assessment principles, pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic approaches, and patient safety considerations related to pain management.
