Course overview

This presentation will start by introducing the differential diagnosis of solid and cystic pancreatic lesions. It will then discuss the diagnostic features/elements (cytomorphology and ancillary testing), with a focus on entities where molecular testing serves practical diagnostic or prognostic utility. Afterwards, bile duct brushing specimens and the importance of molecular texting in this context will be discussed. A brief review of the literature on the types of molecular testing, including single-gene sequencing, next-generation sequencing, and fluorescence in situ hybridization will be provided for different specimen types. Target Audience This educational activity is designed for pathologists, cytopathologists, cytotechnologists, students and other members of the cytopathology community. M. Lisa Zhang, MD Pathologist Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, Massachusetts
