ADHD Across the Lifespan: Evidence-Based Update
Tracking # 20-1378478
Course overview
This continuing education course provides physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other allied health professionals with a comprehensive, evidence-based update on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder across the lifespan. Drawing on systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical practice guidelines published between 2022 and 2026, the course spans 7 modules covering DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, epidemiology, neurobiology, clinical assessment, comorbidities, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and discipline-specific roles in interprofessional ADHD care. Persistent disparities in diagnosis and treatment access across sex, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status are examined alongside the post-2020 surge in adult ADHD diagnoses. Participants will gain the clinical reasoning skills necessary to identify ADHD presentations across age groups, implement evidence-based screening and monitoring protocols, and contribute to coordinated longitudinal management within a chronic disease framework. This course is designed for clinicians who encounter individuals with ADHD at every stage of development, from childhood through older adulthood.
