Course overview

Stroke remains a leading cause of long-term disability, and many adults and children with stroke or other CNS disorders are under-referred for Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) despite robust evidence of functional gains. Clinicians need clear, pragmatic guidance on who qualifies, how to assess readiness, and how to deliver CIMT across settings, clinic and home for both upper and lower extremities. This course fills that gap with an emphasis on practical decision-making, efficient outcome measures, and real-world application. The course translates sensorimotor principles into step-by-step CIMT protocols for pediatric and adult populations, with specific guidance for Brunnstrom Levels IV-VI. You'll learn candidacy screening and "readiness counseling," select and apply current assessment tools, and implement clinic-based and home programs using demonstrations and case videos. Attendees leave with immediately deployable strategies: dosing and progression plans, treatment progressions for UE/LE, and documentation tips to track measurable improvements in motor control and functional use.
