Course overview

OB This course provides a comprehensive, evidence-based review of obstetric (OB) emergencies encountered in prehospital, critical care, and emergency settings. Learners will explore the pathophysiology, recognition, and management of high-risk maternal conditions, including postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, obstetric trauma, and complications of labor and delivery. Emphasis is placed on rapid assessment, clinical decision-making, and the integration of both pharmacologic and procedural interventions, such as hemorrhage control techniques and emergent delivery support in resource-limited and transport environments. Through case-based discussion, simulation, and practical skill application, participants will develop the ability to anticipate deterioration, prioritize interventions, and effectively manage both maternal and neonatal patients. This course is designed to enhance provider confidence and competence in managing time-sensitive OB emergencies, ultimately improving outcomes for mothers and newborns.
