Activating Reach in an Underactive Upper Extremity: Part 2. Modified Chain

Course overview

This one hour recorded webinar will use lecture, video case studies, and a fun dialogue between two Adult OT instructors to discuss and show modified chain strategies for activating an underactive upper extremity. Many clinicians struggle with how to work on functional tasks, like reach, with a heavy, weak, and often high-toned arm. This course will describe ways to modify the chain in functional tasks to allow the affected upper limb to be engaged in function. Often these same salient, functional tasks can be applied in home practice strategies for extra repetition and intensity of practice. Video examples of patients engaging in functional modified chain tasks will be shared.
