Course overview
This Intravenous (IV) Therapy Certification Course is designed to provide nurses with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical skills necessary to safely initiate, maintain, monitor, and discontinue intravenous therapy in a variety of healthcare settings. The course focuses on evidence-based practices related to peripheral intravenous catheter insertion, fluid and electrolyte administration, medication infusion, infection prevention, and management of IV-related complications. Participants will develop competency in venipuncture techniques, selection of appropriate vascular access devices, IV site assessment, infusion calculations, documentation, and patient education. Emphasis is placed on patient safety, aseptic technique, legal and ethical responsibilities, and adherence to institutional policies and professional standards. The course includes didactic instruction, simulation practice, return demonstrations, and competency assessment to ensure safe and effective IV therapy administration.
