Effective communication is the foundation of safe coordinated patient-centred care. Without clear and respectful exchange between team members important information can be missed decisions delayed and patient outcomes compromised. This course focuses on the communication competency of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competencies framework. It examines the seven sub-competencies within this domain drawing on clinical case examples to consider how communication supports or undermines effective interprofessional collaboration.
