Course overview

This two-hour technical spectacle course is designed to enhance the dispensing understanding of the psychological, perceptual, and behavioral factors that influence patient satisfaction, adaptation, compliance, and purchasing decisions within the optical environment as it relates to the technical and optical properties of lenses, frames, coatings, and contact lenses. Patient perception and expectation frequently play a significant role in how those products are experienced and evaluated. This course will examine the placebo effect as it relates to ophthalmic dispensing, lens performance claims, frame selection, non-prescription optical products, lens adaptation, premium upgrades, blue-light products, and patient communication. Participants will analyze situations in which patient belief and expectation may positively or negatively influence visual outcomes, comfort, satisfaction, and perceived performance.
