Course overview
NEW COURSE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming healthcare delivery, clinical decision-making, diagnostics, population health management, documentation, and patient engagement. As AI technologies become increasingly integrated into healthcare systems, advanced practice providers and healthcare professionals must understand both the tremendous opportunities and the significant ethical, legal, and professional challenges associated with their use. This course provides an in-depth examination of AI applications in healthcare, including machine learning, predictive analytics, clinical decision support systems, natural language processing, and generative AI technologies. Participants will explore the ethical implications of AI-assisted healthcare, including algorithmic bias, transparency, accountability, patient autonomy, informed consent, privacy protection, cybersecurity, and professional liability. Through analysis of current evidence, emerging regulations, and real-world case studies, learners will develop the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to responsibly integrate AI into clinical practice while maintaining professional standards, patient safety, and ethical integrity. This course emphasizes that AI is a clinical support tool rather than a replacement for professional judgment and examines the responsibilities healthcare providers maintain when utilizing AI-generated recommendations.
