Personality Disorders and Addiction Through an Attachment Trauma Lens is a trauma-informed continuing education course examining how early attachment experiences, developmental trauma, nervous system dysregulation, shame, and environmental stressors contribute to addiction, emotional dysregulation, and personality pathology across the lifespan. This course explores attachment theory, trauma physiology, nervous system responses, personality disorder development, addiction as maladaptive emotional regulation, and the impact of poverty, culture, religion, family systems, and social isolation on emotional functioning. Participants will examine how trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches influence assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, differential diagnosis, and long-term recovery while emphasizing compassion, accountability, emotional regulation, and relational healing.
