This 2-hour course provides healthcare and social service professionals with an overview of workplace violence prevention, recognition, reporting, and response strategies. Participants will review the definition of workplace violence, common types of violence, risk factors, reporting rights, and the importance of maintaining a safe care environment. The course also covers OSHA workplace safety expectations, The Joint Commission workplace violence prevention standards, de-escalation techniques, safe positioning, active listening, boundary setting, incident reporting, post-incident review, and the key elements of a Workplace Violence Prevention Program. Emphasis is placed on identifying risks early, responding safely, reporting concerns, and supporting a safer environment for staff, patients, residents, families, and visitors.
