This 2-hour course provides healthcare professionals with a foundational overview of electrocardiogram interpretation, including cardiac conduction, EKG waveforms, lead placement, rhythm assessment, and recognition of common cardiac rhythms. Participants will review basic cardiac anatomy, the electrical conduction system, key EKG components, 3-lead, 5-lead, and 12-lead placement, heart rate calculation, rhythm regularity, PR interval, QRS duration, ST segment changes, T wave abnormalities, and QT interval considerations. Emphasis is placed on using a structured approach to identify normal sinus rhythm, selected arrhythmias, and potentially life-threatening rhythms, while supporting timely reporting and following facility protocols.
