Course overview

This 4-hour HIV/AIDS continuing education course is designed to enhance healthcare professionals' knowledge of HIV prevention, transmission, testing, treatment, and patient care. Participants will review the epidemiology of HIV, current evidence-based treatment guidelines, infection control practices, legal and ethical considerations, and strategies for reducing stigma while promoting compassionate, patient-centered care. The course also covers the role of healthcare providers in early detection, counseling, prevention methods such as PrEP and PEP, and improving health outcomes for individuals living with HIV. Upon completion, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, effective, and culturally competent care to patients affected by HIV/AIDS. Learning Objectives: Describe the epidemiology and transmission of HIV/AIDS. Identify methods for HIV prevention, including PrEP and PEP. Discuss current HIV testing and treatment recommendations.
