As the nation's population ages, mental health professionals are increasingly called upon to address the intertwined needs of older adults and their caregivers. The United States is witnessing a demographic transformation unlike any before, with longer life expectancies, shifting family structures, and evolving definitions of what it means to age well. This change has far-reaching implications, not only for healthcare systems but for mental health professionals who must bridge emotional, social, and practical gaps in care. This one-hour continuing education course prepares counselors and other mental health professionals to understand and address the mental health needs of aging adults and their caregivers across the United States. This course is written by Gwendolyn Green, LMHC, LCMHC, LCP, MCAP, Qualified Supervisor, co-owner of AA Ross Counseling, and licensed mental health clinician in Florida, Washington, West Virginia, Vermont, and Maine.
