Course overview
This 9 hour, self-paced online introductory aquatic therapy course is designed for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and athletic trainers. This course provides comprehensive instruction in the Aquatic Therapy Institute's seven core competency domains. This includes the foundations of aquatic therapy, safety and risk management, clinical screening, foundational movement, condition-specific applications, progression and regression strategies, and clinical documentation and reporting. Content is delivered through a combination of text, images, and video to support a well-rounded learning experience. Participants are required to have access to a pool to practice and apply course concepts prior to implementing them in clinical practice. Upon completion, participants will demonstrate the knowledge and confidence required to safely and effectively incorporate aquatic therapy into clinical practice to optimize patient outcomes.
