Trauma-Informed Care for Beginners: Applications Across Systems

Course overview

This continuing education course provides behavioral health and other helping professionals with an introduction to trauma-informed care and its importance in behavioral health settings. Participants will learn what trauma is, how common traumatic experiences can affect individuals across the lifespan, and how trauma may influence emotions, behavior, relationships, physical health, learning, and overall well-being. The course introduces key concepts, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), attachment, developmental trauma, cultural considerations, and the basic neurobiology of trauma.
