This program will address current antibiotic myths and best prescribing practices. Participants will learn to describe appropriate evaluation of a listed penicillin allergy and its impact on antibiotic selection and clinical outcomes, summarize recent literature on the safety and effectiveness of shorter durations of therapy, appraise linezolid dosing strategies and explore the role of therapeutic drug monitoring in patients with renal insufficiency, and evaluate the utility of fosfomycin in treatment of uncomplicated cystitis.
