Participants will be able to differentiate between textbook presentations of psychological disorders and the complexity of real-world clinical presentations, utilize supervisory questioning techniques to help trainees identify the psychological mechanisms underlying therapeutic interventions, apply perspective taking strategies that enhance trainee understanding of both client and therapist experiences, implement role play and modeling techniques that strengthen trainees' ability to connect theory with clinical practice, demonstrate methods for helping trainees integrate assessment findings, theory, and research into case conceptualization, use functional analysis approaches to help trainees understand client and therapist behaviors occurring within psychotherapy sessions, and employ supervisory strategies that encourage independent clinical thinking while maintaining adherence to evidence based practice.
