Start courseCourse overview
Nutritional management is critical in managing feline disease conditions. The diets role in these nutrient sensitive conditions vary, as diet may be a primary intervention or hold a supportive management role. Cats presenting with multiple concurrent disease conditions exhibit an added degree of clinical complexity. These comorbidities frequently occur in senior feline patients, as multiple diseases demonstrate increased prevalence with advancing age in cats. These disease conditions include chronic kidney disease, joint disease, cognitive dysfunction, neoplasia, and endocrinopathies. Selecting the most suitable diet for a feline patient involves thoroughly evaluating their nutritional needs, understanding the nutrients involved in managing disease conditions, and knowledge of nutritional profiles available in helping to manage the disease conditions.
