Mental Health Awareness and Limited Mental Health Skills for Nurses

Course overview

This course covers major mental health conditions in nursing practice, mental status examination, PHQ 9/GAD-7 screening tools, Florida's Baker Act and Marchman Act, therapeutic communication, trauma informed care, and psychotropic medication nursing implications. Upon completion, participants will apply validated assessment instruments, fulfill Baker Act documentation and legal obligations, and implement stigma reduction and appropriate referral practices for patients in Florida clinical settings.
